Bicycle Routes In Southampton Township

Southampton Township offers some very scenic bicycle routes that can be enjoyed by bicyclists of all levels of riding skills. There are routes for beginners, novices, and advanced bicycle enthusiasts. All routes begin and end at the Southampton Township Park on Airport Road.   Dust off your bicycle and try some of our routes.

We have route tested all of these routes prior to adding them to the web site.
  • Please remember that you are sharing the road with cars and trucks.
  • Safety Notes: Always wear a helmet
  • Drive to the right of the road and obey traffic control devices
  • Obey all the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation traffic laws.
  •

How we divided the routes into each category.

Beginner routes: Low mileage routes on roads with low traffic volumes and with as few hills as possible all within the township. These routes are a good start for anyone just getting into bicycle riding on a regular basis. These routes are 4 to 10 miles in length.

Novice routes: Longer mileage routes on roads that might have an increase in traffic volume and might extend outside the township.  Of course, with longer routes there come more hills.  If you find the Beginner routes just too easy, then make the jump to these routes. These routes are 10 to 25 miles in length.

The Advanced Routes:  The miles become longer and you will see an increase in traffic. We have tried to keep these routes off the main highways as much as possible. The hills become more challenging and so does the distance. These routes will extend past the township limits but will offer some changes of scenery.  If the Beginner and the Novice routes are no longer a challenge, then try one of these. These routes are usually 25 to 50 miles in length.

Rails To Trails: The Cumberland Valley Rails-To-Trails does cross part of our township.  If you would rather stay completely off the roadways, this would also be great place to ride your bicycle.

Cumberland Valley Rails-To-Trails can be found here.
