Be Prepared for Snow... Winter Snow Guidelines…
SNOW PLOWING FOR TOWNSHIP ROADS –
-
The Township’s policy is to first open the roads to make them travelble. Salting and cindering will be performed as needed. After initial plowing, it is necessary to have the plow return to widen the path. This provides an area to plow additional snow if another storm should arrive prior to a melting period. Residents are asked to park their cars in a driveway. It’s almost impossible for the township equipment operator not to push snow into driveways that are already plowed. This is not done deliberately.
-
Do not shovel snow into the road or have your driveway plowed into the road. This can cause a serious traffic hazard. If possible, it is best to place snow on the side of your driveway opposite the direction the plow is traveling. By implementing this technique, the plow will push snow away from your driveway rather than back into it. It is nearly impossible to plow the road without depositing snow into your driveway.
-
Residents are also asked to clear snow away from Fire Hydrants.
-
Please place recycle bins, trash containers and basketball hoops in your driveway (not on the road) so these objects do not become a hazard for motor vehicles and snowplows using the road

Operation Lifesaver is a nonprofit, nationwide public education program dedicated to eliminating collision, deaths, and injuries at highway-rail intersections and on railroad rights-of-way.
Each year, Operation Lifesaver's network of trained, certified Presenters conduct free programs on rail safety education for hundreds of groups around the country. Presenters share a common goal: to reduce the likelihood of collisions between people/vehicles and trains through rail safety education.
Operation Lifesaver Presenters are trained and certified to provide important safety information to driver's education students and other school children, community service clubs and civic groups, school bus operators and professional truck drivers, company safety programs and others.
You can schedule a free highway-rail or pedestrian safety presentation in your community, with sufficient advance notice by contacting the Operation Lifesaver State Coordinator. Request An Operation Lifesaver Presenter
